Fall is a great time to see Black Bears high up in the Oak and Hickory trees feasting on nuts during hyperphagia when they eat twenty out of twenty-four hours in a day in order to fatten up for their winter denning period. Last week my mom and I were on a camping trip and we saw many bears breaking branches as they pulled the nuts closer in for their feast. So what does a bear do after eating and eating for hours on end? Why give himself a bath of course! My mom and I were delighted to see this big guy clean himself from paw to paw!
